The Workers’ Union of the National Port Authority (NPA) has honored Managing Director Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly, the Board of Directors and the Senior Management Team following the regularization of the employment status of more than 400 contractors at the Authority.
The workers commended the decision to transition the affected personnel from contractual arrangements to regular employee status, describing the initiative as a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of the National Port Authority.
The workers also expressed appreciation to Board Chairman Dr. Luther Tarpeh and members of the Board of Directors for their role in advancing the initiative. They encouraged the newly regularized employees to demonstrate continued commitment, discipline and productivity in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Speaking during the occasion, Managing Director Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly acknowledged the years of service and sacrifice rendered by the contractors, noting that their resilience and contributions to the Authority had been recognized through the regularization of their employment.
Hon. Dukuly also paid tribute to President H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., highlighting the Government’s emphasis on the dignity and contribution of workers to national development.
“This honor calls us to lift our eyes to His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., whose government has placed the dignity of the ordinary worker at the very heart of national purpose. It is the worker who drives the transformation of this republic. We salute the President, and we rededicate ourselves to that noble mission,” the Managing Director said.
Deputy Managing Director for Administration Hon. James Richard Bernard urged the newly regularized employees to maintain high standards of professionalism, consistency and responsibility in their respective duties.
He further emphasized that Management would continue to enforce the Authority’s established attendance and performance policies as part of efforts to strengthen institutional discipline, accountability and operational efficiency.
Speaking on behalf of the workforce, Dock Workers Union President Terry Kpokowo expressed gratitude to NPA Management for what he described as a life-changing decision for the affected workers and their families.
He pledged that employees would reciprocate the confidence placed in them through greater loyalty, productivity and commitment to service.
As part of the ceremony, the Workers’ Union presented a special honor to Managing Director Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly in recognition of his leadership, commitment to employee welfare and stewardship of the National Port Authority.
The regularization initiative represents another step in Management’s broader efforts to strengthen the NPA workforce, improve employee welfare and build a more stable, professional and productive institution.
