Legal Dept
Provides legal counsel to the Authority and supports lawful, commercially sound management of Liberia’s ports. The department advises management and operational units on legislation, contracts, concessions, regulatory obligations, disputes and institutional decisions that carry legal risk.
Key responsibilities
- Advise the Board, management and departments on applicable laws, regulations, contracts and legal risk.
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements, leases, concessions, memoranda of understanding and other legal instruments.
- Coordinate litigation, claims, dispute resolution and engagement with external counsel where required.
- Support legal due diligence for procurement, investment, infrastructure and public-private partnership transactions.
- Maintain legal records and track statutory, contractual and regulatory obligations affecting the Authority.
- Provide legal input into policies, procedures and institutional reforms before approval or implementation.
