Captains/Pilot Dept
Supports safe vessel navigation and movement within NPA-controlled port waters through pilotage and professional marine coordination. The department applies local harbor knowledge to vessel arrivals, departures, berthing, unberthing and other controlled movements.
Key responsibilities
- Provide or coordinate pilotage for vessel entry, departure, berthing, unberthing and shifting as required.
- Assess navigational conditions, vessel characteristics and local risks before marine movements.
- Coordinate with harbour control, tug operators, agents, terminals and ship masters on planned vessel movements.
- Maintain pilotage records and report navigational hazards, near misses and operational constraints.
- Support development and review of marine procedures, passage guidance and emergency arrangements.
- Maintain professional competence, medical fitness and required qualifications for pilotage personnel.
